Friendsgiving brings students together for a night of socializing and games

The Summit

The week before Thanksgiving, students and staff gathered for the annual Friendsgiving event on campus.

*I've been here for seven years, and the school has hosted this intercultural Friendsgiving ever

since I have been here," said Teddy Nguyen, director of intercultural affairs.

The event, held in the Shields Science Center, started at 5 p.m. and went until 7:30 p.m. with students eating, mingling, and playing games.

"It's just a casual event where students get the chance to mingle," said SGA Executive Diversity

Chair Erica Dabanka '26.

With the help of Academic Advising, International Programs, and the Student Government Association, food was provided and students were given an opportunity to meet new people. The Office of Intercultural Affairs asked students to register before coming so that they could get a head count and accommodate anyone with food allergies or special food requests.

Some activities planned for the night included a Kahoot bingo game and cards at each table for students to fill out for what they are thankful for.

According to triblive.com, "about 40% of Gen Z and Millennials celebrate Friendsgiving," and its popularity has increased over the years, giving people a chance to connect with old and new

friends during the holiday season.

The event has also become popular at Stonehill, with more people finding out about its annual Friendsgiving.

"Friendsgiving gives students the opportunity to casually mingle with other students who look

like them and familiarize themselves with the faculty," said Dabanka.
